The outing at Lake Hodgson for this Saturday, May 16th has been CHANGED. We have moved the date to Friday evening, June 19th. We will have the picnic dinner at 6:00 P.M. If you are interested in attending, please contact Andrea Scott at: ladyfisher4trout@yahoo.com Hope to see you there!
Sorry ladies- the first outing of 2009 is APRIL 25th, not August 25th. Please mark your calendars for next month. Thanks and we hope you can make it!
Ladies- springtime is just around the corner and with the arrival of blooming dogwoods and flowering hepatica comes hungry papermouths. The name papermouth refers to a crappie which is one of the most popular species of fish caught in the springtime. These thin-mouthed, silvery fish are fairly easy catch, provide a strong fight, and if you're interested, they taste delicious! Go with the FLO on Saturday, August 25th for a fun day on the water at Dale Walborn Reservoir near Alliance in Stark County. Go to www.starkparks.com to read more about the location. Details will follow later in March. Call or email Jamey with questions at 330-280-4800 or jitterbugjamey52@gmail.com
Outdoor Ladies Encouraged to Join Round-Table Session on February 26 Twinsburg, OH – The Fishin’ Ladies of Ohio (FLO) will meet on Thursday, February 26th at the TwinsburgGanderMountain. The informal meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and last one to two hours. Rather than invite a guest speaker like most traditional-style clubs, FLO will host a round-table session where members will share their tall and true tales, fishing photos, favorite gear, and best fishing techniques. Ladies are encouraged to bring other ideas to the table as well. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know other females with similar interests in the outdoors. There is no cost to attend the meeting, but reservations are required. Please contact Jamey at
If you are interested in attending the Saturday, Oct. 25th, 2008 Steelhead outing, please contact ladyfisher4trout@yahoo.com before 4:00 P.M. on Friday, Oct. 24th. I will send you a private message as to where we will be fishing. As of now, it appears we will have a rainy day. Bring your rain gear. We will either be fishing a tributary of the Grand River in Painesville, or Rocky River at the Marina. We will meet at 9:00 A.M. Look forward to seeing you. It is forecasted to rain on Friday. Fishing should be good on Saturday IF the rivers don't get blown out. Please send me a message so that you can be kept up-to-date on our destination.

FLO Members,
There will be an outing in October on the 25th (weather permitting). This will be a Steelhead outing to a Lake Erie tributary (the location will be announced closer to the 25th). Bring your fly rod or spinning rod. Come and enjoy the day with the other members. Please contact ladyfisher4trout for more information.
Haven't been out lately. I'm really looking forward to some good bluegill fishing...hopefully from the kayak. Gotta make some time!
It sounds like you had a good time last night. Did you get any pictures of the fish you caught? We'll miss you on June 7th!

So it doesn't look like I'll be able to make it on June 7th so I'm pretty bummed! It sounds like you're guaranteed to catch fish! I visited the swimming beach at Turkeyfoot Lake in Akron last night and caught a few bluegills and a nice black crappie. No redears yet but they should be spawning soon. Talked to a couple of fisherman and a gentleman at the bait shop and they've all done well so I just must have been out of luck or something! I tried an green/gold ice jig tipped with a maggot, then a gray/red tube jig tipped with a redworm, and then a white/red jig tipped with maggot (that's when I caught the crappie). I experimented with different depths and swallower the better. The gills were snatching at insects on the surface and a guy fly fishing did well. He used a brown mosquito-like fly. Anyone else gettin' out?
Hello Ladies, I will give you just a short briefing on the June 7th outing. More information will be available later.
I am organizing the outing on June 7th to Lake Hodgson in Ravenna, OH. This lake is enclosed by a chain link fence. The gate opens at 6:00 A.M. There are row boat rentals for $15.00 a day with a $20.00 deposit. There is an entrance fee for those who wish to wade and not rent a boat which is $1.00. Please check in at the office. I have yet to decide as to what area we will park in and have our picnic. But that information will come a little later. The area I have in mind to park and picnic is in a pine forest. It gives one the impression that you are at a remote lake in Canada. The sunset is very pretty there with the picnic tables and a bench situated
I agree! Great time...albeit few fish! We got lucky with the weather. I can't wait to fish Mogadore. It will be my first time there. If you need help with anything, let me know.

FLO members,
Well, we didn't do too well at Mosquito on Sunday but at least we tried! A cold front swept in as well as a walleye tournament the day before, so it seems the fish were done for a few days. It was certainly a beautiful day to be out though and Diane caught a nice largemouth just minutes in the trip. Thanks to those of you who could make it and we missed those of you who couldn't! Looking foward to Mogodore (Portage County) next month (details to follow).
